Do You Have Hip Impingement? (EARLY WARNING SIGNS)

There are several "early warning signs" that you may have hip impingement (or at least hip mobility restrictions.) After all, impingement is a rather nebulous term because there is always something impinging on something else whenever a joint nears its end range of motion.

With that said, here are a few signs that you may have some degree of hip impingement when you squat:

  • Foot turns out
  • Big toe raises
  • Hips shift sideways
  • Unilateral (one-sided) SI joint pain

It is also possible that these compensations are related to ankle mobility restrictions (or a combination of both hip and ankle restrictions.) You will want to assess both joints.
